The Bruce ECO-Industrial
Park (“Bruce ECO”) is located on the east shore
of Lake Huron between the thriving communities of Kincardine and Port
Elgin, parts of Bruce County, in Ontario, Canada. It is located adjacent
to the Bruce Nuclear Power Development (“Bruce Power”),
one of the world’s largest independent power generating facilities.
Bruce Power generates enough clean electricity to supply approximately
25 per cent of Ontario's power needs.
The
Bruce ECO was founded on the premise that long-term economic policies
must incorporate energy use in the most environmentally friendly way
possible. This project is a sustainable industrial development that
strives to integrate various industries for long-term economic growth
and environmental sustainability (Eco-Industrial Park).
The Bruce ECO has available infrastructure
to supply clean energy in the form of steam via a 24 inch (600 mm)
pipeline that can deliver approx. 300,000 lbs/hr to the ECO businesses,
with a 10-inch condensate return line.
Within a day’s drive of major North
American markets, Bruce County has a well-established transportation
corridor. It has excellent provincial highway access to the major
markets of Southern Ontario and the Northern United States. Provincial
Highways 4, 6, 9, 86, and 21 are the main connecting routes to Highway
401 and major North American metropolitan Centres.
There are a number of trucking companies and commercial/bus lines
servicing the area. Bruce County is close to major deepwater harbours
of the Great Lakes. The Hamilton Port offers a deep-water port for
international commercial shipping. In addition, the regional port
of Goderich is also accessible for international shipping with custom
clearance. There are also 12 harbour marinas along the coastline of
Bruce County to accommodate commercial and/or pleasure craft.
Southern Bruce County is within
180 kilometres of Pearson International Airport in Toronto (one of
the largest Airports in North America). There are four regional airports
in the area:
• Kincardine Airport, with two runways and capable of jet services
• Saugeen /Port Elgin Airport
• Wiarton- Keppel Airport
